Day of Action – Continuing The Fight to End Mass Incarceration

March 19, 2015 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm
  • This event has passed.

As Black History Month has drawn to a close, we turn our focus from celebrating African American achievements birthed from great struggle and accomplished against great odds to the question:
How will we create a future where ALL Black lives truly matter?

It’s a strategic question. We know that systems create and maintain America’s profound racial inequality.  The criminal justice system, historically and today, has devastated Black communities, with it’s focus on incarcerating Black youth and young adults at record rates.

This Thursday, March 19th at 5:00 PM, we invite you to join SOUL and IIRON’s next public demonstration urging Cook County State’s Attorney Anita Alvarez to use her power to reduce the numbers of African Americans accused of non-violent crimes who are languishing in the Cook County Jail.

Pledge your commitment to be there by responding here.
